It's time for another tutorial with watercolors.... this time using stamps to make cool patterns on paper! It's a simple project that will take you 5 minutes or less and it's fun to do with kids too.
You can use ink to make these, but watercolors give you a completely different effect. It's much more fun :)
Step 1: Load up your paint brush with water and paint. then "paint" the surface of the rubber stamp. You can use one color or many colors, you can try it with lots of pigment or just a little. Just experiment and have fun!
Here's my little guy going at it... he thought it was pretty cool :)
This is what your stamp may look like after the paint is applied...
Step 2: Place the stamp down on the paper and press lightly.
Step 3: Lift the stamp off the paper and see the cool design it makes!
Step 4: Repeat the previous steps, alternating colors, to fill the entire page. You can do them in rows or all over the place in no particular order, whatever you like.
Check out all the designs I made.. so fun! The crazy flower one on the far left is my favorite :)

Looks like fun to me!... Have a great holiday weekend! ~tina
ReplyDeleteCool! I think Spencer would actually like this one. I like your flower one the best. The sun finally decided to come out today, so I'll save this idea for the next rainy day.
ReplyDeleteNot just a fun activity, but a good way to do a card background, or wrapping paper. Sweet picture of DS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to include toddlers in your crafting! I agree with the random flower one being the best of the bunch. Thanks for the fun idea :)
ReplyDeleteThese are AMAZING. They would make such fun wrapping paper or to put in a frame and use as your own DIY message board. I also see them framed in a baby nursery;-)
ReplyDeleteLove them!
I'm going to have to try this with the boys. :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I used to teach a rubber stamping class (for adults) and this is definitely something I would have added to it! I was surprised at the number of grown ups who were intimidated by stamps because they were afraid the images wouldn't be "perfect enough" when that's the beauty of stamps: their imperfection! This a great technique to get over that "too perfect" block!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!!
