I am endlessly amazed at the creative ideas I come across in blog land. When I came across the idea for making prints with watercolors and strawberries at The Hello Lucky Blog, I was so excited to try it out! I would never have thought of this myself... but really... the possibilities are endless!
This blogger made strawberry prints by cutting the strawberries in half, painting some watercolors on them and pressing them to paper. So cool! I really got into it and tried a few other fruits to make some fun cards. It was a party!
My favorite prints by far are the ones from limes... they look like some kind of sea creature!
Even pears make nice prints!
I have a feeling I will be doing more of these. There are so many foods to try this out on!
They are cool! But, I don't think I could bring myself to paint on my fruit. I love to eat it too much. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWow Elise!!! What a fabulous idea!!! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteLove these! I, too, would have a hard time painting fruit rather than eating it, but then I thought, maybe this would be a good use for fruit that sometimes turns out to be unpalatable. A crunchy pear that never ripens. The strawberry with white shoulders and no taste.
ReplyDeleteI've also seen "roses" made with the base of a bunch of celery, the part you really would throw away anyway.
I just looked at your painted gourds, which I saw in "You might also like." Will you be doing more? Love those, too. The birdhouses reminded me of a Tasha Tudor book I had as a child.
These are amazing! I've always loved seeing your watercolor paintings, but I think these are by far my favorites, especially the lime ones!
ReplyDeleteGonna have to try these myself one day!
