A Few Random Facts About Me

Since it's my birthday this week (I'm turning 29-yikes!) I'm doing something different here. I'm writing about myself...just some random stuff.  I love reading personal and even random things about other bloggers.  It's a fun way to get to know someone!

So here are a few things about myself that I'm pretty sure I've never written on this blog:

  • I have a sister with Down's Syndrome.  She's my youngest sister and my favorite!  She's really into the Cars movies and always will be.  She's an inspiration to me and a light in my family's life!
  • I don't really like cooking.  It's more of a chore for me.  I think my husband is a better cook than I am.
  • Nearly ten years ago, right after finishing my freshman year of college, I was in a serious car accident that left me with a broken back, among other things.  I feel extremely blessed to have survived that and know I have a reason to still be here :)
  • When we first bought our house last year, I accidentally locked myself and my son out in our backyard when the backdoor got jammed shut.  Kind of embarrassing.  I had to call my husband on my neighbor's phone to come home early from work and rescue us.. haha!
  • For the most part, I enjoy keeping my house clean and organized. It makes me feel good.
  • I once ran a half marathon.... a long time ago... before I was married.  It was fun!  One of my life's dreams is to do a mini-triathlon.  It may be a while though.  I have to take baby steps first.
  • The only TV show I have ever been addicted to is The Gilmore Girls, which is funny, because the first time I saw it, it annoyed me.  They talked so fast!
  • My husband and I lived in the same apartment complex and knew each other for a whole year before we ever went on a date.  And then it wasn't love at first sight... or date.  I feel like we were able to become such good friends because we weren't completely and obsessively attracted to each other at first.  The attraction grew as we got to know each other.
Well, enough of me.  Have any random facts you'd like to share here?  I'd be happy to read them!

  1. I love that you wrote this! It makes me like you and your blog even more!

I love the Gilmore girls too!!! Its the only time I watch TV in the day. It gives me a reason to stop and have a cup of tea. The rest of the time its all kids kids kids!

I lock myself out of the house on a regular basis. It drives my husband nuts.

My husband it definitely a better cook than me.

I wish wish wish I had gone to art school, I cant afford it now.

When I went to America over ten years ago I thought I might meet some handsome American boy and instead fell a handsome but very English boy instead. No moving to America for me then ha! I thought it wouldn't be anything serious as we were at university but he ended up being my husband.

    I'm addicted to tea.

    And chocolate.

    And Crisps...

What were we talking about again?...

  2. I've locked myself out of the house three times. I had to do a retrofit on our screen door because I kept bumping the lock as I walked out and it would lock behind me. Once I was wearing a bathrobe and slippers, and it had snowed about a foot overnight. Now I have not one but two spare keys hidden outside.
I agree with your comment about the Gilmore Girls talking too fast. I tried, but I could never get into that show. Currently I'm in love with reruns of the Burns and Allen show. It's very witty and an interesting snapshot of times gone by. Some things have changed dramatically since then, but some things never change. Love your art work.

  3. The only time I locked myself out of our house was when I locked my keys in my car in my driveway. It embarassing and expensive since Alan couldn't come home and I had to call a locksmith. We now have a key hidden outside. duh!

I felt the same way about Gilmore Girls at first. My roommates would watch it and I thought it was so dumb. I got totally hooked after Spencer was born and I was spending a lot of time holding a sleeping/nursing baby in front of the tv.

  4. My uncle has Down Syndrome. I'm very thankful that he has been part of my life! He lived with us for several years when I was young. I know he changed me forever, in a good way. One of my childhood highlights was going to his school activities - Christmas parties and things like that. I'm 42. It happened so fast and I still feel like I'm in my 30s! Except I ache more. :) I've just started running and I can't go very far yet.

  5. It was nice reading about you. I too hate to cook and definitely my husband is a better cook. In fact, he was the one who taught me to prepare a decent meal.
