Hey guys! Today I want to share a few paintings..... one that I mostly like and one that I really don't like much at all. They are far from perfect, but I'll share them anyway.
Mostly I just post the paintings I'm really happy with, but in reality, about half of my paintings don't turn out the way I want. I have quite a collection in my art cupboard of the experiments, the rejects, and just the plain mess-ups.
So this poppy painting here, I'm pretty happy with. The purple poppy has a weird looking petal hanging off the bottom, but I love the colors. This would be worth another go for sure!
This one here is of some kind of roses (I forget which kind) and was a bit of an experiment. Not my fav,but I think I learned how not paint with this one. Hopefully with each painting I can figure out watercolors a little bit better. They can be so temperamental, but have a lot of possibilities :)
Watercolor is my very favorite art medium! I love the way the paint flows and interacts in layers. Acrylics don't do this and are not as fun. Your poppy picture is awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour paintings look lovely, vibrant colours. My tutor has just told me never to throw anything away as you can soak the paper and rub most of the paint off to get left behind the outline faded enough to start again and correct anything you didn't like first time around! I am going to try as I don't get perfect results every time!
ReplyDeleteI like the white space next to the vibrant colors in the last two shots. Not sure if that was on purpose or not, but it's great! Thanks for sharing your talents with the rest of us (and your mess ups too)!
ReplyDeleteI think that you are way to hard on yourself. These are perfect in every way:)
ReplyDeleteFun to see everything you do. I like what I see (very much), but I'm sure you see everything from a different perspective. Maybe if you don't like part of a painting you can use it as the background for a collage.
ReplyDeleteI've been painting roses with watercolors this week! So hard, I wish I could have the looseness and skill you have with watercolor. One day...
ReplyDeletegorgeous! I just love watercolor flowers and yours are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! You are so talented :)
ReplyDeleteOOO I think those are all so pretty! I'm not a painter but my grandpa was a watercolor artist, so I know how hard it is! Thanks for linking up to Tasteful Tuesdays and for the link back :o) Can't wait to see what you bring next week. Emily @ Nap-Time Creations
ReplyDeleteoh, and I just posted looking for some help with my blog... maybe you can offer some advice?
I love watercolors. Although I typically use watercolor pencils because I am not strong enough to let go of all of my control. :) I used to paint with pallet watercolors and I'll work back up to them someday, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteBut I think both your paintings are absolutely beautiful! They are simply wonderful.
