Sketches, Doodles, and Time to Unplug

I've been sketching and doodling just about everywhere.....
in my notebook, sketchbook, and on plain old computer paper.

This last one on the crumpled up paper looks like something my four-year-old would make, but hey, it was fun to make!  I love how crayon resists watercolor :)

Lately I've been feeling so bogged down with blogging and all it entails.... link parties, networking, updating on social media, advertising.....and so on.

It's a ton of work and I've gotten to the point where I'm wondering where this is all going and what I actually want my blog to be.  Yes, I want to keep going.  I love creating and I love sharing what I create!  That's why I started blogging in the first place!  But how much time do I want to spend on this?  Not sure yet.

I'm not on all the major social media.  So far just mainly facebook and pinterest.  Yet I feel stretched to my limit already.  How do you keep up with it all?  And is it all worth it?

These are just a few of the questions going through my head lately.  Any input/advice would be appreciated. In the mean time, I'm taking a little blogging break.  Actually a break from most internet related activities.  It's time to unplug and figure a few things out.  So stick around,  I'll be back!

  2. You don't have to constantly blog to be good, sometimes having a break and letting yourself recharge is fine too!

  4. Will miss you! Blogging can be exhausting. I really do not have any advice as I am pretty new at this. I hope you have a great break and come back refreshed.

  5. I felt the same way after the first 6 months of my "serious" blogging, and I didn't even do any advertising and/or link parties.
Today I take it easy, some months are filled with great content and I make sure to keep up with my Facebook page. Others (like August) are extremely quiet. I find that this way I can keep going and enjoying it, rather then making it a chore.
I am sure you will find what works and what makes sense for you.

P.S. Love your doodles and enjoy your break. We'll be waiting for you, Elise!

  7. Love the doodles! There really is no schedule you must adhere to with blogging. Yes, if you are active in writing and commenting it takes a great deal of time...that I am not sure is really worth it. I wrote very few posts this summer and enjoyed my "real" life. I guess it all comes down to priorities and what is important to you. Blogging is a great way to make friends and enjoy what others are creating. That being said, our daily lives take time and attention too...enjoy your break and post when you can.

  8. I enjoy your blog--pretty things to look at, and inspiration and tutorials for fun things to make. I can certainly see how it would be overwhelming, and if you need a break, do it.
I know I spend wwaaayy too much time on the computer. I spend more time looking at other peoples' artwork than doing my own. I have made some arbitrary decisions to limit having technology overtake my life. I don't own a cell phone. I decided not to look at Pinerest at all; I know I'd never be able to pry myself away from it if I started. I only have a FB account to enter giveaways with. I rarely actually look at it, and haven't connected to anyone with it. I only look at GC through emails. I must admit, every time I do a blog hop to enter a giveaway, I end up saying I'll never do it again. They take way too much time. But, then I get sucked into it again.
Make your own decisions about where to draw the line. If you only sent out an email once or twice a month, I'd be happy with that. And if you give up the blog altogether, I'd miss your pretty artwork, but I'd totally understand. Your DS and DH need you more than I do. You can always get back into it when you're an empty nester!
